"Counselling/Communication" Skilled Helper Development

This two-day event will be held at "" were we will look into the complexities of the "Counselling Communication". Development of the Skilled Helper protocols is designed to train individuals in the basic counselling skills for effective client-therapist communication. When the weekend is completed, those attending will be able to listen with empathy and respect to the emotional needs of hurting people and be able to evaluate the emotional and spiritual factors affecting people under their care. It is important to realize that the literal meaning of Psychology is "Study of the Soul".

The objective of day two is to learn to develop and apply the skills by hands on practicum.

A detailed workbook will be included.

  • Developing The Consultation Skills
  • Attending - The Gift of Your Presence
  • Empathy - Getting Behind The Messages
  • Self-Disclosure - Intimate Modelling Of The Wounded Healer
  • Immediacy - Direct, Mutual Talk
  • Challenge - An invitation to Examine Self-Defeating Beliefs

Those completing the Skilled Helper Programme should be able to:

  • Clearly demonstrate attitudes and behaviours that promote emotional and spiritual wholeness - such as, empathy & positive regard.
  • Identify and utilise the counselling resources that are available in their specific community.
  • Understand the importance of providing accurate care for others.
  • Listen without judgement or condemnation.
  • Have the ability to provide a safe place for people to experience the Inner Healing.
  • Clearly identify and evaluate one's own needs and abilities as a Skilled Helper.

(The Seminar is Accredited for 16 CEH hours.)

This is an advanced seminar. Prerequisite is a Master of Clinical Hypnotherapy (or equivalent) and Certification as a Hypnotherapist. Certified Members of ARCH or IMDHA will be eligible to receive a "Speciality Certification" designation upon successful completion of the seminar exam.
